Joe Friedrich, MA, ATC, CSCS
Co-Founder / Chief Executive Officer
Joe brings more than 20 years of leadership experience at the intersection of athletic healthcare, operations, technology, and workforce strategy.
His leadership background includes 17+ years in NCAA Division II athletics, complemented by service on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Athletic Trainers' Committee, including two terms as President. His work in Division II athletics culminated in recognition by NATA ICSM as the 2022 NCAA Head Athletic Trainer of the Year for Division II.
A longtime advocate for innovation within the profession, Joe served for more than a decade on the Athletic Trainers' Society of New Jersey Technology Committee, including nine years as committee chair, where he helped drive the organization's adoption and application of emerging technologies.
In 2024, Joe relocated to New Mexico and transitioned into a business development role with Professional Therapy Partners (PTP), broadening his focus from individual athletic programs to systems-based healthcare strategy and workforce development. His approach to healthcare delivery and program development is informed by a Master's degree in Holistic/Integrative Health and its emphasis on patient-centric care. Joe built the PTP owned service line, AT CLINIC NOW, leveraging telehealth and bundled services to support athletic trainers in traditional settings through a scalable remote staffing subscription model. The model also expands access to athletic healthcare in rural and underserved communities across New Mexico and beyond.
Joe remains actively engaged in professional advocacy and currently serves on the Governmental Affairs Committee of the New Mexico Athletic Trainers' Association.
This combination of clinical leadership, workforce development, technology, and healthcare innovation helped shape the vision for The Sports Med App. As co-founder, Joe is focused on addressing longstanding structural challenges within the athletic training workforce, including fragmented credentialing, limited workforce visibility, inefficient staffing processes, and barriers between qualified clinicians and the organizations that need them. Through The Sports Med App, Joe is building scalable workforce infrastructure that gives athletic trainers greater mobility and professional opportunity while enabling organizations to more efficiently identify, engage, credential, and manage the clinicians they need.
